Hello,

According to the datasheets for the L9963E and L9963, the country may be both “a Li-ion battery tracking and protecting chip.” There isn’t any specific point out that they might not paint with LiFePO4 batteries and it is doubtful if ST includes LiFePO4 batteries under “Li-ion” batteries. Want to verify if LiFePO4 may be used with those chips.

Thank You

LiFePO4 has a minimal discharge voltage of 2.0 V, a typical cell voltage of 3.2-3.3 V, and a maximum charge voltage of 3.60-3.65. L9963E covers a voltage range between 0.5-4.6 V per cell, which thus includes LiFePO4, but should also be designed for it by the software of the advanced- position controller.
